CLEAN 5

To remove sludge and metal oxides from old heating and/or conditioning systems

How to use

Add TOPTHERM CLEAN 5 to the system from whatever part of it using INJET vessel. Before administration, ensure that the water does not contain other chemicals. It must circulate inside the system for at least 2 hours if using the external pump TOPFLUSH, or from 3 up to 30 days if using the boiler’s pump, with the boiler on or off. Once the cleaning operation is finished, the system should be well drained and rinsed. Rinsing should continue until clear water runs out. Refill the system with TOPTHERM PROTECT 1 to avoid corrosion, lime scale and sludge formation.
• HELPS IN ENERGY SAVING
• MAXIMIZES SYSTEM EFFICIENCY

Usage

Add 0,5 kg of CLEAN 5 for every 100 litres of water in the system (houses from 80 up to 100 m²). Lower concentrations do not yield satisfactory results. Any higher concentration do not cause problems.

Environmental and safety information

TOPTHERM CLEAN 5 has a neutral pH and it is not classified as hazardous substance. It does not corrode metals (iron- aluminium- copper) nor plastics. Do not mix with other chemicals. Do not ingest. Do not dispose of waste through the environment.

TUTORIAL – STEP BY STEP

TopflushCLEANING OPERATION USING THE EXTERNAL PUMP TOPFLUSH
• Before administration, ensure that the system does not contain other chemicals than TOPTHERM. If in doubt, drain the system and refill it with clean mains water.
• Check the water volume inside the system or the house dimensions.
• Ensure to have the right quantity of CLEAN 5 available (lower concentrations than the recommended do not yield satisfactory results. Any higher concentration do not cause problems.)
• Connect the inlet and outlet pipes of the pump to the boiler circulator or directly to the inlet and outlet of the system (disconnecting the boiler).
• Connect the filling pipe of the pump to a tap (sink, bathroom, etc.).
• Connect the discharge pipe of the pump to a drain (sink, WC, etc.).
• Fill the tank of TOPFLUSH with mains water.
• Close both inlet and outlet taps.
• Put the pump on and let the water circulate inside the system with all the radiators and collectors opened (do not allow a dry-circulation). If the system is empy or not completely full, open the inlet tap till the system will be full of water.
• Add the cleaning products selected (CLEAN 5) inside the TOPFLUSH tank.
• Ensure that the product circulate in all parts of the system by taking a sample of water from different point (radiators) and checking visually the change of colour the values with the conductimeter.
• Let the product circulate for at least 2 hours.

Rinsing operation

• Keep the water inside the system in circulation.
• Keep the tank of the powerflushing machine TOPFLUSH half full of water by opening both mains water inlet tap and discharge tap on the tank.
Open all the valves of the system and let the water flow from 5 to 15 minutes checking the colour variation.
• Once the colour of water has become clear, leave 3 or 4 radiators opened and close the remaining.
• Take a sample of water from the air outlet valve of one of the radiator you are rinsing and check that water is clear.
• If dirty, continue the rinsing operation until the water is clear and colourless from every sample taking point.
• If clean, close the radiators you are rinsing and open other 3 or 4 radiators.
• Repeat the operation for every radiator on the system until the circuit has been thoroughly rinsed.
• Once the rinsing operation has finished, open the whole circuit with the rinsing water tap opened and check visually that water is coulourless as the mains water, or check that salinity is the same of that of mains water (max + 10%), using a conductimeter.
• If the salinity is not the same, keep the water flowing until it is as clean as the mains water.

Protection

Add the right quantity of inhibitor PROTECT 1 to the system, then check with P-TEST that the concentration is correct. Stick on the boiler the label on the side of the PROTECT 1 bottle specifying the quantity of product added to the system and the date.

CLEANING OPERATION, USING THE BOILER CIRCULATOR

• Before administration, ensure that the system does not contain other chemicals. If in doubt, drain the system and refill it with mains water.
• Check the water volume inside the system or the house dimensions.
• Ensure to have the right quantity of CLEAN 5 available (lower concentrations than the recommended do not yield satisfactory results. Any higher concentration do not cause problems.)
• Add the product to the pressurisable INJET vessel.
• Connect the INJET joint to a radiator valve, to the jolly-valve, or to the safety-valve of the boiler and add the product inside the system.
Let the product circulate inside the system from 3 to 30 days.
• Best result are given both with the boiler on (hot water) and with the boiler off (cold water).

Rinsing operation

• Connect a pipe to the mains water tap (min. flow rate 10-12 liters / minutes and pressure more than 2 bar) and to the inlet of system.
• Connect a flexible pipe from the return of the system to a discharge point.
• Close all the radiators leaving only one radiator open.
• Open the mains water tap and let the water flow checking the colour of the water drained.
• Once the water become clear and colourless, take a sample of water from the bleed valve of a collector and check that even there water is clear.
• If dirty, continue the rinsing operation until the water is clear and colourless.
• If clean, close the radiator you are rinsing and open another radiator.
• Repeat the operation for every collector on the system until the circuit has been thoroughly rinsed.
PS: it is possible to make the rinsing operation using the external pump TOPFLUSH.

Protection

Add the right quantity of inhibitor PROTECT 1 to the system, then check with P-TEST that the concentration is correct. Stick on the boiler the label on the side of the PROTECT 1 bottle specifying the quantity of product added to the system and the date.
